If you are looking for my blog "Random Ratiocination", try http://randomratio.blogspot.com.

Agent Smith: It seems that you've been living two lives. One life, you're Thomas A. Anderson, program writer for a respectable software company. You have a social security number, pay your taxes, and you... help your landlady carry out her garbage. The other life is lived in computers, where you go by the hacker alias "Neo" and are guilty of virtually every computer crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a future, and one of them does not.

Of course I'm schizophrenic. Even my mail ID has 5 aliases. And here's a FAQ generated as a result of one of my personalities questioning my primary ego.

What's this page all about?

Unfortunately, no one can be told what this page is all about. You have to see it for yourself.

Who am I ? (with due apologies to Jackie Chan)

I'm Prasanna Ganesan, PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at Stanford University, as is amply clear from the URL of this page.

Why on earth do I want to be studying Computer Science?

Morpheus: "Throughout human history, we have been dependent on machines to survive. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony.
And the Lord spake, saying "First shalt thou study Computer Science. thus shalt thou rule the world."

What research group do I belong to?

My Perry Mason persona: Objection. Assuming fact not in evidence.

Am I doing research?

Err....Yes.

What research group do I belong to ?

The Stanford InfoLab

Who's my advisor?

Prof. Hector Garcia-Molina

What am I working on?

Trinity: You're looking for him. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn't really looking for him. I was looking for an answer. It's the question that drives us. It's the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did.

Neo: What is the Matrix?

Trinity: The answer is out there, Neo, and it's looking for you, and it will find you if you want it to.

The answer to this question is also out there somewhere, and they tell me it's not 42. See my Research page for more details.

Ever heard of hierarchical directory structures, you nincompoop? Or are you still using MS DOS v1.0?

Sorry. This site does have more than one page. Look at all the cool links on the left side of your browser. If you are wondering what on earth I'm talking about, please verify that your browser supports HTML 4.01 with CSS.

And, oh yeah, this site is perennially under construction. So, keep your hardhats on and watch your step.
