Research and Work Experience
-
Stanford University
1/95 - present
Conducting research in the areas
of data mining (MIDAS project), semistructured data (TSIMMIS
and Lore projects) and on-line
integration of heterogeneous information sources (TSIMMIS project).
-
Designed and implemented system for
efficient data mining integrated with relational database.
-
Contributed in the creation of framework that generalizes
association-rule data mining and implemented prototype.
-
Developed algorithms and implemented
prototype for obtaining approximate schema for semistructured data.
-
Redesigned and implemented the engine
of on-line data integration TSIMMIS prototype.
-
Developed efficient algorithms for
concise representation of semistructured data.
-
Hitachi America, Ltd., Santa Clara, California
7/98 - 10/98
Accomplished technology transfer, under the guidance
of Dr. Shalom Tsur, by designing and implementing the Query Flock Compiler,
a system for efficient, on-line, ad-hoc data mining integrated with conventional
RDBMS. Performed experiments with ORACLE 8.0 and MySQL. Developed
algorithms for translation of complex data mining queries into a sequence
of optimizable SQL queries.
-
BARRA, Inc., Berkeley, California
6/94 - 8/94
Participated in the development of software application
for portfolio optimization and risk characterization. Designed and
implemented parts of the front-end and report generating components.
-
Robotics Lab, Stanford University
10/93 - 4/94
Cooperated in the development of
the Machine Learning Library in C++ (MLC++
project). Responsible for the module generating random data set according
to specifications.
-
Teaching Experience

assisted in designing the course format and content and mentored undergraduate
students
-
Stanford University
1/98 - 3/98
As Teaching
Assistant for
CS245: Database System Principles, I prepared and graded assignments, assisted
in preparing exams and occasionally
lectured.
-
Stanford University
9/96 - 12/96
As Teaching
Assistant for CS345: Advanced Topics in
Database Systems, I supervised student projects, prepared and graded homeworks,
assisted in preparing exams and gave some lectures.
-
Stanford University
3/98 - 6/98
