"It's Madness!!" - Mark Madsen, Stanford basketball player

Hi, this is my new and improved web page. I am Beverly, Warrior Princess. I'm trying to think of a catchy theme for my page, but until then, please enjoy this song about databases, written to the tune of the Beatles' "Yesterday" ...

Yesterday,
All those back-ups seemed a waste of pay
Now my database has gone away,
Oh I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly,
There's not half the files there used to be,
And there's a milestone
hanging over me
The system crashed so suddenly.

I pushed something wrong
What it was I could not say,
Now all my data's gone
And I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay.

Yesterday,
The need for back-ups seemed so far away.
I knew my data was all here to stay,
Now I believe in yesterday.

Hello there! Welcome (again) to my new and improved web site! I had to give my web page a little more respectability, because I just realized that people actually visit this page. I don't have a lot of links right now - I still view this page as being in its nascent stages. So I humbly offer, for your viewing pleasure...

ME!!! =)

Friends
(oops I mean acquaintances, sorry steve)

A tribute to...

1/19/2001: So, I've decided that the theme of my page should be "hopelessly outdated". My "ME" biography was written almost 5 years ago, all my friends' links are broken because they've graduated and their accounts have expired, and i can no longer handle the grease of heaviness of kfc on a regular basis...sad, but true. However, there are some things that haven't changed: I'm still a Stanford basketball fan, and I still study databases at Stanford =) As far as it is within my control, these things won't change for several years yet.

3/31/2000: So, I make about 1 update to this page a year. Last July I added 2 friends to my list (yay! =)), and before that, I think I updated this page May of 1998. Now that I am updating my page again, don't expect another one for another 12 months or so. Please forgive me. That is, if anyone still looks at this page and cares anymore!

Now I'm getting my PhD in Computer Science at Stanford University. Pretty neat, huh? =) I'm in the Database group, working under Hector Garcia-Molina on the WebBase project. Hence, the poem about databases. By the way, I love our basketball team =)
