Class of 7 April 2006
Follow-up from Thursday: Scientific publication – in turmoil. The discussion became an update to the Meeting 00 Notes.
Information was provided by Joyce Moser about resources for the class' writing and presentation requirements.
Don't write wimpy. If you have an opinion, state and defend it. If you know that it does not hold in certain cases, state the exceptions. But don't use terms as "X may be Y", if you actually believe that "X is Y" and want to convey that to the reader. If you write wimpy the reader has to think about what you really meant to say. You are protecting yourself by putting a burden on the reader.
