Course Summary

The Spring 2001 offering of CS347 will provide the student with an introduction to modern information retrieval (IR). The course will focus on text and hypertext retrieval from a variety of sources such as the Web, email, and legacy repositories. In addition, a small segment (4 to 5 lectures) of the course will provide an introduction to some basic aspects of distributed databases, including distributed database design, query processing, and reliability.
