Software we acquire elsewhere:
- COTS: commercial of the shelf
- CAS: commercially available software
- NDI: nondevelopmental item
==> used as components or componentware to build component-based 
software or systems of systems

Problems in using componentware:
- Components may integrate perfectly during development, but not behave 
perfectly at rntime.
- We have process models for developing software from requirements, but 
not yet for acquiring software.
- COTS are delivered as black box ==> how to determine that they behave 
safely, securely, and reliably?
- How to access the quality of COTS? How to access suitability?
