Minutes of the weekly meeting of January 28, 1998

DCOM:
VisualAge sells a bidirectional bridge which should be ready to work
with Orbix from Iona within several weeks. Price: together with the ORB
for NT up to 10000.-.
Visigenic sells now a one-directional bridge (CORBA-server,
DCOM-client). Its bidirectional bridge should be ready in about 1.5
months. Bridge plus NT-ORB will be 900.-.
Decision: for the moment we put aside the bridge to DCOM; we will
discuss it again as soon as Visigenic has brought out its product.

Java/RMI:
Mehul will help Catherine in enhancing the CHAIMS infrastructure for
Java.

ASN.1:
Pankaj and Hao are working at the data converter for the wrappers.

Installations of CORBA and DCE:
We postpone the installation of DCE on Durgon for some weeks, until we
really need and Andy has more time. The ORB are running yet on Solaris;
they should be up again soon.

CHAIMS-communication-protocol:
Ron gave an overview of how the CHAIMS protocol looks like from a
network point of view.

I suppose that was all.
